History buffs will enjoy the Tipton Haynes State Historical Site, a state-owned historical property that features the home of Colonel John Tipton, circa 1784.  For those museum lovers, the Gray Fossil Site and Natural History Museum and the Hands On! Regional Museum are local galleries that feature interactive and hands-on exhibits that can be enjoyed by both  children and adults.

 

Wetlands Water Park and Brights Zoo are all located within minutes of the heart of the city and feature both indoor and outdoor entertainment that includes water attractions and exotic animals.  Bristol Motor Speedway, located in nearby Bristol, is billed as one of the loudest tracks in NASCAR history, and is famous for its unique style of racing that includes extraordinarily steep banking that contributes to the raceway's high number of yellow-flag caution laps.  The grounds are also home to Thunder Valley Drag Strip, where it is true to it's name, as the dragsters echo through the the valley.
